Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 29, 2026

Lantern Academic Interventions, LLC (“Lantern,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides one-to-one structured literacy intervention for students with dyslexia. We respect the privacy of the families who visit our website and contact us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to information you provide through our public website, including our contact form and our online consultation scheduling page.

Lantern is a solo-owned and solo-operated practice based in Apex, North Carolina. We serve families in person across the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill (NC) Triangle and virtually nationwide. Because our services are arranged by and discussed with parents and guardians, this website is directed to adults, not to children.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to respond to your inquiry and to schedule and provide our services. We collect personal information in the following ways.

Information you give us through the contact form

Our contact form asks for:

  • Your name (the parent or guardian making the inquiry);
  • Your email address; and
  • A free-text description of what you are seeing with your child’s reading, which you provide voluntarily.

This form is intended for parents and guardians (adults). Please share only the details necessary for us to understand how we may help.

Information you give us when you book a consultation

Our consultation scheduling page (powered by Google Calendar Appointment Scheduling) collects your name, your email address, your phone number, and short intake answers you choose to provide when you book a 30-minute consultation. Your booking is added to our calendar and a confirmation is sent to you by email.

Information about a child

When you describe your child’s reading difficulties—and, in some cases, a diagnosis or suspected disability such as dyslexia—you are providing information about a minor and, potentially, about a disability. We treat this as the most sensitive information our website handles. Please share only what you feel is necessary for us to understand how we may help; you do not need to provide a diagnosis to contact us. We handle this information as described in the “Children’s and Sensitive Information” section below.

Information collected automatically

Our website is hosted on Webflow. Webflow may collect limited technical information—such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and basic usage data—that is necessary to operate, secure, and load the site.

Subject to your cookie choices (see “Cookies and Analytics” below), we use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you interact with the site, and provides us aggregate statistics about site usage.

You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

We also use Google Search Console (provided by Google LLC). It does not place cookies on your browser or collect your personal information through our site; it reports to us how our site appears in Google Search results, using data Google already holds.

These analytics cookies do not run unless you consent to them through our cookie banner. We do not use this information to serve targeted advertising, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on our site.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect payment card information, Social Security numbers or other government identifiers, health insurance information, or account passwords through this website. There is no account login on the site.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about your child’s reading needs;
  • Schedule, confirm, and conduct consultations and intervention sessions;
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services;
  • Keep records of our communications with you; and
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use the information you submit to sell products, to serve targeted advertising, or for any purpose unrelated to providing our literacy services.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the practice, and only as needed for them to perform their services for us. These providers are:

  • Webflow, Inc. — hosts our website and stores contact-form submissions in the site’s form dashboard.
  • Google LLC (Google Workspace) — provides our email (Gmail), calendar, and appointment scheduling. Form notifications, consultation bookings, and intake answers are received and stored here.
  • Google LLC (Google Business Profile) — hosts our public business listing and any reviews customers choose to post. Profile messaging is turned off, so we do not receive chat messages through it. This listing is governed by Google’s general Business Profile terms.
  • Google LLC (Google Analytics and Search Console) — provides website analytics, subject to your cookie choices.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or protect the safety of any person.

4. Children’s and Sensitive Information

Our website is intended for parents and guardians, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information directly through our website, please contact us using the details below and we will delete it.

We recognize that, in describing your child’s reading struggles, you may share information about a minor and about a suspected or diagnosed disability. We treat this information as confidential and sensitive. We use it solely to understand and respond to your inquiry and to provide our services; we do not use it for marketing; and we limit access to it to the practice owner. You may ask us to delete it at any time, as described under “Your Choices and Rights.”

5. Public Reviews

Customers may choose to post reviews about us on our Google Business Profile. Reviews are public and are controlled by the person who posts them and by Google, not by us. If a review you post names a child or describes a disability, please be aware that the content is public. If you would like a review you posted to be removed, you can edit or delete it through your own Google account. If you believe a review posted by someone else discloses sensitive information about your family, contact us and we will, where possible, report or request removal of the content through Google’s available channels, although we cannot guarantee removal of content we do not control.

6. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses two kinds of cookies and similar technologies. The first are strictly necessary cookies that allow the site to function, load correctly, and stay secure; these are provided by our hosting and infrastructure providers. The second are analytics cookies used by Google Analytics, as described above.

We manage cookie consent through a consent tool (Ketch). Analytics and other non-essential cookies do not run until you affirmatively consent to them through our cookie banner. If you decline, or if you make no choice, those cookies do not fire. You may also change your choice at any time through the banner, and you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent; some parts of the site may not function properly if you do.

We do not place advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep contact-form submissions, consultation bookings, and related correspondence for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy—including responding to your inquiry, providing our services, and keeping reasonable business records—and then delete or de-identify the information. If you become an active client, we keep records for as long as needed to provide services and to meet any legal, tax, or recordkeeping obligations. We may retain information longer where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish or defend a legal claim. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, as described under “Your Choices and Rights.”

8. Your Choices and Rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you have provided through our website. To make a request, email us at hello@lanternacademic.com and tell us what you would like us to do. We will respond within a reasonable time, and within any timeframe required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (such as those in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and a growing number of other states) may give you additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or of targeted advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, so there is nothing for you to opt out of in that respect; the access, correction, and deletion rights above are available to you regardless of your state. If a state law gives you the right to appeal a decision on your request, you may do so by contacting us at the same email address.

9. How We Protect Your Information

We use the security features built into the trusted providers we rely on (Webflow and Google Workspace), and we limit access to your information to the practice owner. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and any applicable authorities as required by North Carolina law and any other applicable law.

10. Links to Other Sites

Our website may link to third-party websites or services that we do not operate. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and post the updated policy on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
